Our province’s annual gift to Boston gets lit up Thursday night.
A virtual lighting of the Tree for Boston takes place on the Boston Common at 8 p.m.
The one-hour ceremony, which will be broadcast on WCVB Channel 5 Boston, is expected to reach an audience of 200,000 people.
The 45-foot white spruce comes from Heather and Tony Sampson of Dundee, who donated the tree from their lot in Grande Anse, Richmond Co.; it honours Boston’s response after the 1917 Halifax Explosion, as well as those working the current COVID-19 pandemic frontlines.
