The Halifax Mooseheads have fired their head coach.
Jim Midgley took over coaching duties in June; team officials announced they were parting ways with him Wednesday morning.
The team’s assistant coaches, Jon Greenwood and Sylvain Favreau, along with goaltending coach, Eric Raymond, remain in their positions.
Halifax was eliminated in the second round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs when they were swept by Charlottetown two weeks ago.
Midgley was an assistant coach for the club for six seasons prior to being named head coach.
A news release says team officials are beginning the search for a new head coach immediately.
Halifax will be hosting the Canadian Hockey League’s Memorial Cup next season.
