The 156th edition of the Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition is underway.
The five-day event, which takes place at the Antigonish exhibition grounds on James St., opened Wednesday morning; it wraps up Sunday.
Donald MacLellan, the manager of the ENSE, tells The Hawk it’s a good family event.
“It’s a very good show,” he says. “We have a lot of heavy draft horses come in, the dairy, the beef, light horses, great barrel racing, pole bending, (and a) great tug-of-war.”
MacLellan says the weather is always a factor when it comes to attendance.
He says they anticipate a good turnout.
“They’re in the 12,000 range, we usually receive, that comes through the gate,” he says. “We’re very lucky to have such a good crowd.”
MacLellan says the first day of the exhibition is 4-H Day.
He says other events include the ATV obstacle course, agility dog show and plenty of live musical entertainment.
