Alvin Martell will continue to serve as the deputy warden of Richmond Co. for what will be the remainder of his time on council.
He was acclaimed during October’s regular municipal council meeting Monday night.
After, Martell said it was easy to accept the nomination.
“I had it for a couple of months, and I think that I enjoyed the position and I think that for the last year I think I’ll like to be deputy,” he said. “I’m retired now, so I have more time to give- I think it would be more a benefit to the residents of Richmond Co., me being deputy while I can give more time.”
Martell said he won’t re-offer in the next municipal elections.
He said he’s served long enough.
“I have given 16 years,” he said. “It’s time to move on, and make some room for some new blood.”
Municipal elections take place across the province in Oct. 2020.
