You’ll have to be extra careful travelling through Antigonish tonight.
The town is hosting its annual Christmas parade.
The parade runs from Fairview Street, down West Street and Main Street, and up to Market Square.
Mayor Laurie Boucher says there was some consideration to having the parade during the day, but they decided against it.
Boucher says they took extra steps to make sure the parade was safe this year.
“Council has approved an extra $5000 in the budget for the parade to increase safety,” she says. “More lighting at both the pickup and the drop off spot for the floats, and extra security along the way, as well as barricades at the busiest intersections along the parade route.”
The parade gets underway at 6 o’clock.
