The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health says no matter how things look, we must stay vigilant.
Dr. Robert Strang made the comments in the wake of 100 new cases in Newfoundland and Labrador yesterday, the highest single day case count in that province since the pandemic began.
Dr. Strang says it vindicates our cautious strategy.
“Frankly, listening to and hearing what’s happening in Newfoundland, to me, tells us that we are on the right path.”
He says continuing to limit many types of gatherings is a key way to put the province in the best possible position
Dr. Strang says it’s becoming clear exactly what caused the massive outbreak in NFLD.
“They are attributing much of this to social events and sports tournaments, that is why we must stay the course here at home,” he says. “We must continue to be cautious, deliberate, and vigilant.”
Dr. Strang announced no new cases in our province Friday and, with two recoveries, nine active infections remain.
