Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Hwy. 104 in Antigonish Co.
It happened near Monastery shortly before 7 p.m.; there were whiteout conditions at the time.
Drivers passing by the scene reported as many as 12 vehicles involved; RCMP only confirmed five vehicles were involved.
Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries and released.
Traffic, which was backing up on the highway in both directions, was eventually detoured to Hwy. 4 in both directions while emergency crews cleared the scene.
