“Cape Breton’s First Lady of Song” has been inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Rita MacNeil was honoured during the 2021 East Coast Music Awards Show.
The event was live-streamed from Sydney Thursday night.
MacNeil passed away as a result of complications from surgery in April 2013- she was 68.
Her name will be added to the National Music Centre’s Hall of Fame in Calgary.
