Horn-honking demonstrators have taken over the nation’s capital in protest of COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other restrictions.
Ottawa Police are advising residents to avoid travelling into the downtown core again on Monday, to work from home if possible, and to check if schools in the area are open.
They say talks are ongoing to get the convoy of truckers moving out of the region safely but many demonstrators have announced their intention to stay.
Police add they’ve avoided handing out tickets and towing vehicles to prevent confrontations with protestors.
Meantime, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is set to deliver a news conference this morning amid the trucker gridlock.
Trudeau will also virtually attend the question period as the House of Commons resumes.
There are reports Trudeau and his family had to be moved due to security concerns.
