May good luck be with you wherever you go, and your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow.
May your days be many and your troubles be few
May all God’s blessings descend upon you
May peace be within you
May your heart be strong
May you find what you’re seeking wherever you roam
St Patrick’s Day is both a cultural and religious celebration. It is celebrated on March 17 as that date is believed to be the day Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland passed away.
Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated in more countries than any other national festival. In fact, one of the longest-running and largest Saint Patrick’s Day parades in North America is held in Montreal.
Outside of the religious ceremonies that some observe on this day, many people will wear something green.
That tradition can be attributed to a few different reasons:
- A nod to the color of a shamrock
- It is supposed to make you invisible to leprechauns (they pinch anyone not wearing green!)
- Ireland’s nickname is the Emerald Isle
- Green represents the Catholics of Ireland
However you choose to celebrate today, may the luck of the Irish be with you!
