After two years of pandemic delays, a Regimental Memorial will be held for Constable Heidi Stevenson, who died during Canada’s worst mass shooting in recent memory.
Wednesday at noon, a procession of uniformed law enforcement will march along Forest Hill Parkway, from St. Vincent de Paul Church to Cole Harbour Place.
A private memorial service will be held at Cole Harbour Place. However, the community is encouraged to gather along the procession route to show support for Stevenson’s family and colleagues.

Who was Heidi Stevenson?
On the Morning of April 19, 2020, Stevenson was providing backup to an officer in the Shubenacadie area of Central Nova Scotia.
A lone gunman driving a replica RCMP cruiser crashed his vehicle into her patrol car.
Investigations showed Stevenson and the gunman shot at one another, fragments of her bullet hit the side of his head.
Stevenson was shot; her life ended that morning.
The Antigonish native lived in Cole Harbour with her family: husband, dean and their two children, Connor and Ava.
She’s remembered as the neighbour who said hello to everyone, a busy parent volunteering at school, a friend, and a gentle smile for those who needed it.
She graduated from Acadia University in 1993 – but not before her campus security job ignited her passion for policing.
During her time with the RCMP Stevenson held numerous positions and was even involved In the RCMP’s Musical Ride.
Road Closures
Expect to see Road closures in the Cole Harbour area, starting around 11:45 a.m.
During the procession, Flying Cloud Drive, Taranaki Drive, Auburn Drive and Chameau Crescent will be closed. Traffic will be rerouted along Flying Cloud Drive.
The intersection at St. Vincent de Paul Church will only remain closed until the procession leaves the church. Once the intersection has cleared, Flying Cloud Drive and Taranaki Drive will be reopened.
Another traffic control point will be set up at Auburn Drive and John Stewart Drive. Vehicles will be routed south on John Stewart Drive or east on Auburn Drive, away from Forest Hills Parkway.
The remaining street closures and detour are expected to stay in place until about 1 p.m. Drivers are being asked to respect barricades and traffic cones set up for the road closures.
