Fishers are getting some support from the federal government in the wake of Hurricane Fiona.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans has announced $100 million to help rebuild small craft harbours and recover lost fishing gear.
The Feds are currently working alongside fishers to make the repairs needed so small craft harbours can continue operating.
DFO says the work they’re doing will also make the harbours more resilient against future extreme weather.
They say 133 harbours were impacted by Hurricane Fiona.
The funding will also boost DFO’s Ghost Gear Fund, to recover other lost fishing gear.
