The Atlantic Salmon Restoration Project conducted their second salmon release at Clyburn Brook in Cape Breton Highlands National Park this week. The initiative began three years ago by raising juvenile salmon in captivity before releasing them. Their first release happened last year.
The purpose of this project is to restore the Atlantic Salmon population which has been in decline since the late 1990’s.
Parks Canada has worked closely with Dalhousie University and Cape Breton Highlands National Park to make this project possible. This project supports Parks Canadas commitment to protecting species at risk for future generations to enjoy.
