First responders from across Cape Breton will compete in a charity hockey game in Glace Bay this Saturday.
CBRM’s fire and police services will test their rivalry in the inaugural Three Brothers Cup. The Three Brothers Project is a Cape Breton charity that focuses on promoting men’s mental health and physical wellbeing.
Some of their previous initiatives include creating a bursary for a carpentry student at NSCC and purchasing new lights for the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Breton to make it easier for them to play outside.
“Men’s mental health is an incredibly important subject, so if we can raise some funds and bring a spotlight to this matter, we’re happy to do so,” said CBRM police officer Mike Jones in a press release.
Michael Keating founded the Three Brothers Project after the tragic loss of his brother Matthew in 2017.
“First responders are frequently exposed to traumatic events, being able to reach those groups with our messaging is a great opportunity,” said Keating.
The community is encouraged to come out and show their support at 3 p.m. at the Glace Bay Miner’s Forum.
Donations will also be accepted.
