CN and the Teamsters Canadian Rail Conference say they have come to a tentative agreement for the company’s locomotive engineers, conductors and yard workers.
No details are being immediately released.
The deal still needs to be ratified by the nearly six thousand workers impacted.
That will begin on May 5 by electronic voting that will end on May 26.
Union leaders are expressing their satisfaction over the recent talks.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with CN. I would like to congratulate the bargaining committee on their hard work and thank all the members who took part in this process,” says the national president of Teamsters Canada, François Laporte, in a release.
CN’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Tracy Robinson, is also happy with the outcome.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the TCRC. We would like to thank their leadership for engaging with CN in proactive and productive discussions, ensuring uninterrupted service for our customers,” says Robinson.
The workers’ previous contract expired last June.
