Antigonish is getting a new active transportation trail.
The province is coming together along with the federal government and the municipality of the county of Antigonish to contribute more than $17 million to the construction of a new five-kilometre trail.
The trail will be built along Trunk seven, between Beech Hill Road and Addington Forks Road. It will part of the Blue Route, a province-wide network of trails that connects travelers between different communities in Nova Scotia.
Construction breaks ground this spring and once finished, the trail will be open to walkers, cyclists, wheelchair users and more. It is part of the community’s continued effort to reduce its carbon emissions.
