If you’ve driven on Cape Breton’s Marble Mountain Road, you know it’s needed some serious TLC for quite some time.
MLA Allan MacMaster is excited to announce that in 2023, an 8km stretch of the road is getting paved.
“This is one that people have been waiting on for a long time. I’m glad people are finally getting to see a significant paving project on the Marble Mountain Road,” said MacMaster.
It’s the first time since the road was originally paved 40 years ago that a long stretch of it is getting paved. Up until now, only patches here and there have been paved to address glaring potholes. The project will pave a portion of the road from Lime Hill all the way into the community of Marble Mountain and up to the lookoff.
“This road has deteriorated years ago to the point where you know people are damaging their vehicles on it and so on, and it’s an area too that I see a bright future,” said MacMaster.
MacMaster is excited for potential the new road gives tourists to visit a part of the island that hasn’t been frequented as much. He says that RVs, cars, and motorcycles will be able to use the road without worry.
It’s one of the longest paving projects in Nova Scotia for 2023.
