A Millville man is facing 21 different charges following a domestic disturbance in Cape Breton is now facing a 22nd charge.
After failing to turn in his firearm license to police, the 30-year-old was arrested again and charged with a breach of his court-ordered conditions.
On May 11th, Cape Breton Regional Police responded to the disturbance at an apartment on the esplanade. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers gave chase but called off the pursuit in the interest of public safety.
Police were able to locate the man later at a residence on Maple Hill Drive where he was arrested.
After conducting searches on two homes, officers seized seven firearms, more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition, other gun components, and two vehicles.
The man faces the following charges:
- Pointing a Firearm (2)
- Discharging a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Assault with a Weapon (x3)
- Careless Use (Storage) of a Firearm (x9)
- Flight from Police (x2)
- Assault Police
- Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle
In addition to the vehicles and weapons, officers also found clothing at appeared to be authentic RCMP and Ontario Provincial Police equipment. As a result, the man is also being charged with Possessing Police Article or Police Uniform without Authorization. CBRP is currently investigating where the clothes and equipment came from and are working with partner agencies to verify its authenticity.
He was released from jail on May 19th so long as he followed the conditions of his release. On May 20th, he was brought back in for breaching those very conditions. He will appear in provincial court again today.
