Inverness County is rolling out a new initiative to make cleaning up the beach more fun.
Beach Clean-Up Bingo is the latest program coming to the county, in an attempt to get more people thinking about picking up the trash they come across on the beach.
The rules are simple:
- Go to invernesscounty.ca
- Download your bingo card
- Pick up items you see at the beach that match the items on the card (feel free to pick up other items too!)
- Once you complete a full card, an X, or two horizontal/vertical lines, take photos of the matching items, and email them to [email protected]
- Get entered for a chance to win a gift card to the Mabou Farmers Market.
8 million metric tonnes of plastic enter the ocean each year. That’s equal to 1 garbage truck full of plastic getting dumped in the water every minute. Beach Clean-Up Bingo is Inverness County’s way of trying to reduce that number, as part of Plastic Free July, a global initiative to reduce plastic pollution in the ocean.
