An organization that strives for affordable housing and building stronger communities in the province has a new Executive Committee.
In a release, the organization introduces the four new people who have joined Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia:
Angela Simmonds-Chair– Angela’s 20-year career extends over the various fields of socio-economic development, education, entrepreneurship, policy and cultural competency. Previously, she was a member of the Nova Scotia legislative assembly where she was elected to Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, which made Simmonds the first African Nova Scotian speaker in the province’s history. Angela is the creator and owner of a recently launched company called A Team Coaching which specializes in partnering with organizations to create equity. She’s also a part of the McInnes Cooper team as a Senior Advisor, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
Rodney Small-Vice Chair– Rodney is a change maker, community builder, mentor, coach, and entrepreneur. Raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Rodney is a seventh-generation African Nova Scotian who has established a passion for its people and communities, working hard to help ensure those individuals and communities thrive. Rodney is well-known for his forward-thinking and innovative ways of dealing with issues that have affected marginalized communities.
Todd Brayman-Treasurer-Todd is a Supply Chain Management Professional and Professional Logistician and Veteran with executive competencies in procurement and material management, corporate services, and operations. Todd brings exceptional leadership skills, a work ethic grounded by a desire for continuous improvement, unwavering integrity, and a passion for diverse and inclusive partnerships. Todd has been active in supporting development and programming initiatives on the Halifax waterfront, in Peggy’s Cove, and Lunenburg
Kayla Smith-Secretary– Kayla is passionate about creating thriving workplaces. She began her post-secondary journey by obtaining her Diploma in Business Management from Nova Scotia Community College. From there she went on to Saint Mary’s University to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Human Resources and Industrial Relations.

With decades of experience, these four will work with the Board of Directors and CEO with a mission to transform communities. The organization says it remains focused on making sure everyone in the province has a decent place to live.
