The airport in Sydney is welcoming a new airline and adding a flight to Halifax.
Pascan Aviation of Quebec is the newest airline to offer service from the J.A. Douglas McCurdy Airport.
They will begin twice daily flights to Halifax on October 7, which is restoring a service that was cut in 2022.
“Service between Sydney and Halifax is a vital component of keeping people and goods moving within our province and beyond our borders. The connection and comradery between both Nova Scotian airports is imperative to the success of our aviation industry and our economy” said Myles Tuttle, CEO of the Sydney Airport Authority. “It was important to our team to find a partner who would not only serve this route but also see the value in our community.”
Pascan will fly 30-passenger seat planes from Sydney to Halifax when they hit the runway in the fall.
“The launch of this new airline represents a major milestone for the CBRM and our business community,” said Megan Penney, CEO of the Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce. “This addition will play a vital role in supporting our community’s growth and prosperity.”
The airline indicates it’s working with other airline to make connections in Halifax to other cities.
Pascan now offers flights in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Newfoundland & Labrador.
