We are learning more about a tragic death of an employee at Walmart in Halifax.
Police confirm a 19-year-old woman is dead after an incident at the store on Mumford Road.
Officers were called to the Walmart on Saturday at around 9:30 p.m. after she was found.
However, police did not say where in the store she was discovered or how she died.
Walmart Canada would not confirm any details surrounding the circumstances of her death either.
Investigators are working with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to determine how she died, according to a social media post from Halifax Regional Police.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are not sharing any other details right now.
Security could be seen outside the entrance early Monday morning, with yellow police tape blocking any entry to the main entrance.
In an emailed statement, Walmart said they were heartbroken at what happened and offered their condolences to the employee’s family.
They’ll also have on-site support, including grief counselling, and 24/7 virtual care for employees.
They said the store is temporarily closed as police investigate the incident.
