The RCMP is warning about a rise in credit card scams.
The RCMP says people should use extra caution when they’re doing sales over the phone, especially involving credit cards.
Scammers have recently used stolen or compromised cards to buy furniture, ATVs, tires and other high-priced items.
A lot of the time, the store is responsible when a scammer uses someone else’s card for a purchase, they said.
That means retailers can lose both the item and the money paid for it when it’s purchased by and given to a scammer.
If you suspect you’re the target of a scam, the RCMP asks you to call your local police.
