Two Nova Scotians have been appointed to the Order of Canada.
Mabou, Cape Breton’s Heather Rankin was named an Officer.
Rankin is a Cape Breton icon, known for her solo albums and being part of her award-winning band, ‘The Rankin Family.’
Former CTV News Atlantic anchor Steve Murphy was named a Member.
Murphy anchored the popular 6 o’clock newscast for decades, and hosts the Christmas Daddies and IWK Telethon fundraisers.
In all, 88 people were named, including Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds.
