Visiting family and friends over the holidays could be delayed with a second dump of snow headed for parts of the Maritimes.
Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings and special weather statements for much of mainland Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick for Christmas Eve.
It’s expected to start snowing early Tuesday morning and end Christmas morning.
In this province, the western mainland and Cumberland County on the Minas Shore could see 15 to 20 cm.
For central and northern Nova Scotia, five to 15 cm is expected by Wednesday morning but possibly more after that.
Amounts will be lower for coastal communities, where snow is expected to be wet or mixed with rain.
The forecaster says there remains some uncertainty with this system and additional snowfall accumulations may be possible through the day on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, snow squall warnings remain in effect until Monday afternoon for Inverness and Victoria counties in Cape Breton
