Police arrested a man after he allegedly crashed into a vehicle and attempted to steal another just outside of Halifax.
The RCMP and Halifax Regional Police responded to a collision at the intersection of Larry Uteck Boulevard and Hammonds Plains Road at about 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.
A black Mazda M3 had struck a white Infinity Q50, according to a news release, and then the driver of the Mazda, a 29-year-old man, got out of his vehicle and tried to take a Ford Focus, which had stopped at the collision.
The suspect ran to a nearby gas station and police lost track of where he went.
Police say there were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.
Through an investigation, officers determined the man’s identity, and found him at a Hammonds Plains residence on White Hills Run.
The man, from Hammonds Plains, refused to obey the officers’ commands to step out of the home, but after several attempts, the RCMP arrested him outside of the home.
He remains in custody and will appear in court on Monday.
The investigation continues.
