“Inverness and Victoria Counties will see snow, wind and poor visibility today into Monday night. Road closures are possible. Please consider delaying travel in the area until after our crews have had a chance to plow.” – Department of Public Works
Meteorologist Ian Hubbard noted, “We’re looking at a prolonged period of snow, at times heavy, combined with strong northwesterly winds gusting from 90 to 100 km/h, especially in exposed areas. These conditions are expected to cause blowing snow and significantly reduce visibility, creating hazardous travel conditions.”
Parking ban in place
The Town of Antigonish will put its parking ban in place into Monday morning.
It will be in effect from 12 a.m. until 7 a.m. and includes all town-owned streets and parking lots, including StFX.
Special weather advisories are in place for Antigonish, where snowfall totals are expected to range between 5-15 centimetres, with wind gusts of up to 80 km/h.
The storm is expected to begin Sunday and persist into Monday night, with lingering flurries and winds continuing into Tuesday.
