Rumours have been rampant on social media over the past couple of days that a new Costco location is coming to the Halifax-area.
According to a photo circulating online, Costco is heading to Middle Sackville.
However, what may be a big disappointment to many is that the property owners Armco Capital says this is not true.
In a press release, Armco says they have been working for years to develop the site, but lack of proper zoning and municipal services have been major roadblocks.
As part of discussions with retailers, Armco adds, they prepare site plans.
“The site plan currently circulating on social media was one such internal exercise. It is not part of any current application with HRM, nor has it been formally discussed with HRM staff.”
The company adds that the document was released without consent and led to “speculation”.
Armco says they will continue to pursue development rights and want to consult with the public through “proper channels”.
“Armco remains dedicated to working collaboratively with HRM, area residents, and prospective tenants through the proper planning and approval process.”
The idea of the province getting a third location has been circulating for months but a location has not been solidified.
