A search is underway after a child fell into the water in Guysborough County.
RCMP say crews were dispatched to Cooks Cove around 1:40 p.m. Thursday after a report that a child had fallen into the water while fishing with a man and another child. The man entered the water immediately to rescue the child but was unsuccessful.
Multiple fire services, EHS lifeflight, Ground Search and Rescue teams from Pictou County, Strait area and Inverness County, along with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, civil air search and rescue association and multiple RCMP units are on scene.
According to a social media post from Nova Scotia Fire/Emergency/Info at 9 p.m. on Thursday, operations would minimize overnight and were expected resume Friday morning.
As of 7:30 a.m. Friday, crews have started to return according to a social media post from Nova Scotia Fire/Emergency/Info. Aerial devices will be used, so people are asked to not fly their drones in the area.
