The Antigonish Bulldogs are going for a three-peat.
They’re back in the Don Johnson Cup, this time in New Brunswick.
The Bulldogs had a tough loss to the Capstone Colts in the Nova Scotia league final last weekend.
Because Newfoundland is not participating this year, an extra spot opened up for the Nova Scotia runner-up.
Head Coach Donnie Grant says it’s a great opportunity.
“We are very familiar with the competition. We’ll be taking on Kensington again, who we’ve played in the last two tournament finals. There’s lots of great teams, and we’ll take it game-by-game.” said Grant.
The Bulldogs won the 2024 event in Mount Pearl and the 2023 edition in Liverpool.
Their first game goes Wednesday against the Cap Pele Knights from New Brunswick.
Grant says they want to bring another banner back to Antigonish, where fan support has been excellent.
“We have support from the Strait and Pictou areas too, our last game against Capstone was pretty packed. We are very happy with the support we receive.”
