Carbon tax rebates have begun to be deposited into bank accounts of those who are eligible to receive it in Nova Scotia. The payments are based on the size of your household.
In order to receive the carbon rebate, Canadians need to file their annual tax return. If you are registered for direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency, the rebate will be deposited directly into your bank account, otherwise it will be delivered via cheque.
For those who have a spouse or common-law partner, the person who files their tax return first will receive the rebate amount for all members of the household, including children.
If you are expecting it and haven’t got it yet, it most likely is due to when you filed your taxes.
The first of 4 instalments was issued on Monday for people who filed their 2023 taxes by March 15. If you filed after March 15, the money will be sent on May 15, while those who file after April 15 won’t get the rebate until June or July.
