Search efforts continue Thursday, for the missing 4-year-old boy in Guysborough County.
Oakley fell into the water while fishing exactly one week ago, in Cooks Cove, on his way to visit relatives with his family for Easter.
It prompted a 13-agency search that lasted until Saturday, April 19, when it was put on hold.
Wednesday afternoon RCMP drones started looking again for a few hours and have continued Thursday with helicopters.
RCMP say police continue to analyze information gained to determine what next steps will be.
“Guysborough County District RCMP is aware there are individual and community groups who are continuing to search the shorelines and waters in the area. Investigators will follow up on any and all new information that is received from the community and encourage anyone participating in these individual efforts to prioritize their safety and security and report any relevant information to police by calling 911 in an emergency or the police of jurisdiction in the area.”
The tragedy has had a huge impact on the community, with residents who are posting what places they’ve tracked, on a Facebook page dedicated to finding the little boy.
In addition to that, a GoFundMe for the family has now raised over $15,000 for any future expenses.
