A suspect facing impaired driving charges after he drove to the Antigonish RCMP detachment hoping to get his friend released from police custody has had all but one of his charges dismissed.
RCMP say they found a heavily intoxicated man at the detachment in March.
They say he was on conditions not to consume alcohol at the time.
Michael Taylor Pinkham, 28, of Goldboro was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit, two breaches and public intoxication.
Pinkham’s case opened in court the day after his arrest, and he was released from custody; he pleaded not guilty to all of his charges during an election-and-plea hearing in August.
He was scheduled to stand trial in Antigonish Provincial Court Monday; instead, the Crown called no evidence, and most of his charges were dismissed.
Pinkham did plead guilty to one of his two breaches- he was sentenced to nine months’ probation and fined $250.
