The independent MLA from Cape Breton-Richmond has been evicted from her constituency office.
Alana Paon was booted from the Tory Caucus in June; at the time, Tim Houston, the province’s PC leader, said her refusal to make her St. Peter’s office meet accessibility standards was the final straw.
CBC reports the building’s owner changed the locks on the office doors Sunday.
The province normally pays rent for constituency offices, but payments have been withheld because of non-compliance with the legislature’s accessibility rules.
Paon told reporters the rent’s not being paid, and the province is the leasee.
She said she didn’t sign off on that lease- they did.
