Two basketball players and a hockey player are the latest StFX athletes of the week.
Azaro Roker and Avan Nava, two members of the X-Men basketball team, share the male award.
Roker scored a game-high 20 points and added 11 rebounds and two assists in Saturday’s semi-final win against UNB at the AUS championship in Halifax; he had a double-double (12 points, 13 assists) in the X-Men’s loss to Dalhousie in the final Sunday.
Nava also had a game-high 20 points- along with three rebounds, three assists and three steals- in the X-Men’s semi-final win against UNB; he had a team-high 18 points- with five rebounds and five assists- in the loss to Dalhousie in the championship game.
Tyra Meropoulis, a forward with the X-Women hockey team, earned female honours after she scored the first goal and assisted on the game-winner in Tuesday’s 3-2 game two win against UPEI in Charlottetown that sent StFX to the AUS women’s hockey final against Saint Mary’s; she was named player of the game.
