A well-known local writer and environmentalist has died.
Silver Donald Cameron, who had recently been diagnosed with lung cancer, passed away in Halifax hospital Monday; he was 82.
Cameron grew up in Vancouver before moving to D’Escousse, Richmond Co. in 1971.
He founded Development Isle Madame and Telile, the community television station in Arichat, and was invested into the Order of Canada and Order of Nova Scotia in 2012.
Cameron’s 20th and final book, “Blood in the Water: A True Story of Revenge in the Maritimes”, will be released in August; it details the 2013 murder of Phillip Boudreau in Petit-de-Grat in what became known as the “Murder for Lobster” case.
