Many children in the province will soon be returning to day cares.
The facilities won’t operate the way they used to when their doors re-open Monday.
One major change is licensed day cares can only be at 50 per cent capacity, as directed by public health officials.
The director of Lower South River Preschool in Antigonish Co. says their employees have been back since the end of May.
Kendra D’Eon tells The Hawk they’ve been getting the facility ready, and they’re excited to get back to work.
“We’re all a little nervous, but I think we’re all pretty in good shape around here,” she says. “It’s just nice to get back to a routine and see all the children again.”
D’Eon says they’ll be cleaning more frequently, and have had to get rid of some of the harder-to-clean soft toys, such as teddy bears.
She says they’ll be getting outside more and practicing physical distancing where they can.
D’Eon says that includes nap time, when kids will be spaced at least six feet apart.
