A Grand River man says the province isn’t maintaining the Fleur-de-lis Trail.
Dustin MacAulay says the section of road between Grand River and Fourchu is important for tourism and the fishing industry.
MacAulay tells The Hawk the province has been putting in cold patch asphalt fixes which don’t last a season.
“Right now, it is probably pretty near impassible with most cars,” he says. “If you didn’t have a truck you probably are going to damage something on your car.”
He says the condition of the road is disrupting two industries, and that’s unacceptable.
MacAulay says he’s seen tourists disabled on the side of the road many times.
“There’s potholes that are between three inches and up to eight inches deep,” he says. “Most of the road you have to travel on the opposite side.”
He says the road has been deteriorating for the last decade, and something permanent needs to be done now.
