The MP for Central Nova will not run for the provincial Liberal leadership.
Sean Fraser was considered a potential front-runner to become the party’s next leader- and premier of the province- if he chose to run; he had said he was weighing his options.
In a Facebook video, Fraser says his current role provides him the same opportunity to help the people of his riding and the province.
Elsewhere, another potential candidate says he’s not seeking the position.
Zach Churchill, the province’s education minister, told CTV he won’t run for the leadership.
Premier Stephen McNeil announced he’s stepping down in August; his replacement will be named in February.
