After winning 23 games in a row, giving her the longest streak of any Canadian to appear on the show and putting her in 5th place for all-time in wins in Jeopardy! history, Mattea Roach has received her winnings which totaled $560,983 US.
In a tweet responding to another Jeopardy! contestant (who she defeated) she revealed that her bank held the money for 15 days because it was such a large amount and in a foreign currency.
Guess the bankers aren’t Jeopardy! fans. (or you know, were just following protocol)
not only was the cheque not small enough for mobile deposit, the bank held it for FIFTEEN business days because it was “a large amount of money in a foreign currency” 💀 (also congrats on getting your prize money!! I hope you’re celebrating accordingly)
